Before getting started make sure you have a n8n account, create your workspace and create a new blank workflow.
In the blank workflow click “Add first step”, this brings up a side panel, on the side panel click on the second option that says “On app event”, this should be the second option, clicking on that brings up a list of apps and a search bar, in the search bar search “Telegram”, click on the Telegram option and choose “On message” from the event options, this ensures the agent is triggered when a Telegram message is sent.
Add first step → On app event → Telegram → On message
This brings up a modal for you to choose a Telegram access token from your list of credentials. If you don’t have a Telegram access token follow the link below to learn how to create one: https://docs.n8n.io/integrations/builtin/credentials/telegram
This would create for you a Telegram channel and an access token. Make sure you send a message in the Telegram channel like “Hello” or anything you wish, this is important to test the integration later on. Grab your access token and add it to n8n. After adding and selecting your Telegram credential, click outside the modal, your workflow should now look like this:

Next, click the “plus” button beside the Telegram trigger, this would bring up options on the side panel click “Advanced AI” then “AI Agent”, this would bring up a modal, feel free to close the modal and go back to your canvas.
